I am an Italian graphic designer and creative director based in Dalston, London, UK, with an academic background as an art historian.
My Courtauld days are long gone now, but the art history training shaped my career as leaning towards the arts sector: museums, commercial galleries and many other venerable cultural institutions, both in the UK and abroad.
In the past few years I have become involved  with film and cinema, thanks to the beloved BFI (British Film Institute) where I art-directed the design and the brand for a few years. The love affair is far from over, and I still enjoy a fruitful collaboration with the Future Film Festival at the BFI, and run a workshop and a design competition for them. I also work very closely with the Palestine Film Foundation, with a recent re-branding and a complex new website coming soon (end of 2013).
Beyond the cultural sector, I have produced effective and beautiful communication tools and branding for a number of corporate clients, some of which are represented here. I have often worked as a freelance for top-tier agencies on their commercial accounts, so I have a solid knowledge of the real world, from banking to pharmaceuticals to drinks to property to annual reports, and so on.
I ¬†deeply enjoy the process of the making, beyond conceptual generation. This is why I have more than solid skills in all the relevant image-making software (Photoshop and Illustrator) and layout and presentation software (InDesign, Keynote) while I keep expanding my range ‚Äď which now includes After Effects for motion graphics. In fact, my main expertise used to be design for print, but now my printed works are far and few between. I am extremely interested in the world of interactive publications and hope to expand in the sector soon. ¬†I also think that the web has developed in new and wonderful directions and the world of coding nowadays is pure magic. I keep up to date with all the latest developments on the web. I have a good understanding of HTML5 and CSS3 principles, working directly on code to create and modify designs. I am also familiar with the Twitter Bootstrap framework.¬†I love WordPress and use it to craft simple, effective, user-friendly, responsive and beautiful websites for my clients with it, working directly on the CSS to adapt it to their requirements. Besides English, I am able to work in Italian, Spanish and French, so if you have a project in one of those languages I’d be very happy to help.
In the past few years I have started becoming more and more involved in educational projects with design Universities (University of Wollongong, Australia; London College of Communication; Sir John Cass School of Design), and I am continuing my development in this area.
I also take photographs and create illustrations. I sell my photos and vectors on a number of stock libraries (Shutterstock, Fotolia, Veer, Dreamstime, iStock, DepositPhotos, etc) as well as carrying out photo shoots and creating illustrations for my clients. Please have a look at the photography and illustration sections on this website. You can also see my various drawing endeavours on a number of other platforms: my old drawing blog, my business cards project, and soon a sales platform for my cards.
I am a member of the Chartered Society of Designers and sit on its board as one of the vice presidents.
Please get in touch if you would like to work with me. I am interested in all sorts of projects. If you are a design agency, I very much enjoy freelancing so I would be more than happy to come and give you a hand.
I have a complete CV that I can send over if you would like to know even more. It also contains all the lovely things that my clients have said about me, that you can see scattered around the site.
